International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is one of the most widely accepted English language proficiency tests for higher education, global migration, and professional registration. Jointly managed by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, and Cambridge Assessment English, IELTS assesses your ability to communicate in English across all four language skills—Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.It is accepted by over11,000 institutions across 140+ countries, including top universities in theUK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland.
If you are planning to go to the UK, you may need to take IELTS for UKVI, which is specially approved for visa and immigration purposes. Plus, with the new IELTS One Skill Retake, you don’t need to repeat the whole test—you can just re-do the section (Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking) you want to improve.

Who Should Take the IELTS Exam?

There are two main types of IELTS exams:

The IELTS exam fee in India for 2025 is INR 18,000. This standard fee applies to both the IELTS Academic test and the IELTS General Training test. Whether you choose IELTS on Paper or IELTS on Computer, the IELTS test fee remains unchanged at INR 18,000 across all test centres.
